janice rieves art

Janice creates glass mosaic, sculptural lighting and ferrocement sculpture.

Working in the building trade as a residential tiler for 13 years has furthered her attention to detail, and working as a landscaper and gardener has cultivated a sense of beauty and quality of light to her art.

BEn schikowitz, visionary artist

Ben studied art with various visionary artists while at Omega Institute, including Alex Grey and Robert Venosa. His other interests include playing the drumset and the vibraphone, gardening, and capoeira.

Lyle Estill, metal sculpture & pro Biodiesel Brewer

Lyle's won numerous awards for his metals sculpture, including his amazing whimsical chess sets, and although he is no longer for hire as an artist, you will find his metal work decorating the woods, fences, gates and dwellings of the Bend. He started Piedmont Biofuels at the Bend.

JOE KENLAN, STONEMASON 

Joe is a skilled, highly-sought stonemason who has done all of the stonework you will find on a tour of the Bend, from the entrance to the Burrow on the main highway, the pebble-stream walkway at Sparkroot, the path to his home and the gates on the lane near the Orchard. 

Bob Armantrout, Mushroom Hunter & Pro Biodiesel Brewer

When he is not immersed in the fascinating world of alternative fuels, Bob gardens organically to maintain his sanity, and explores the world of mycelium through mushroom and tempeh production.

ALISA ESPOSITO & LINDSAY, GOATMILK SOAP AT SPARKROOT FARM

Alisa has been making goat milk soap for 5 years. Lindsay runs the dairy at Sparkroot. They make a hard, long-lasting bar of soap from the milk of goats Frida, Clara and Kitten using all vegetable oils scented with essential oils, with herbs added from the medicinal herb garden. Soaps will be available for sale starting November 2017. 

WHITNEY DANE, HERBALIST & CHEF

Whitney is a knowledgable culinary and medicinal herb alchemist and a classically trained chef. She is an advocate for the story of Plants and is out to discover the cuisine of our Terroir. She serves the more beautiful world beginning with our palettes and shared meals.

HOPE MCMULLEN, FLOWERS

Hope puts together a beautiful bouquet of herbs and flowers from her garden  and often supplies arrangements for events, funerals and dinners. Plus, she'll deliver a fresh bouquet to your door each week! 

GODI GODAR, WOODCRAFT

Godi has saved 1,000,000 acres of pristine rainforest in his native homeland of Congo, Africa, through his organization Go Conscious Earth. He has heart for trees and woodlands. His amazing handcrafted furniture and cabinetry speaks of his love of wood.
